Grandhotel **** Starý Smokovec has been writing its long story in the heart of the High Tatras under Mt Slavkovský štít since 1904. The first big hotel in the Tatras has been visited by various eminent personalities – Saxon prince Frederick Augustus, Czechoslovak president Eduard Beneš, British prime minister Harold Wilson, Fidel Castro and many others.
We do our best to make our guests feel comfortable and satisfied while staying with us. In addition to standard hotel services, we will be happy to meet your individual wishes too.
For over 100 years, it has been an honour for us to welcome thousands of guests, including various popular personalities who not only went down in the history of Czechoslovakia and Slovakia but also have become part of chronicles and our hotel history. That´s why our common areas are named after the most eminent ones.
The High Tatras are the highest mountain range in Slovakia and the oldest national park in the country where tourism has a long tradition. The unique geographical location of the smallest high mountains in the world is based on big altitude differences, beautiful sceneries and views similar to those in the Italian Dolomites.
