An Evening with Mountain Rescuers and Search-and-Rescue Dog Handlers

What does a real rescue operation in the mountains look like? What does searching for a missing person involve, and how do mountain rescuers and their four-legged companions work? Come and take a behind-the-scenes look at their work.
During the afternoon, our guests will have the opportunity to experience first-hand how a search for a person in mountainous terrain is carried out, with the participation of mountain rescuers and search-and-rescue dogs. The programme will also include a demonstration of first aid and CPR, as well as the transport of an injured person using KONG rescue stretchers. In the evening, an engaging presentation will take you behind the scenes of rescue operations not only in the Slovak mountains, but also into the experiences and stories of rescue missions in Venezuela.
An evening full of practical demonstrations, fascinating stories and encounters with people who provide help where ordinary assistance often reaches its limits awaits you.
Look forward to:
- Search-and-rescue demonstration – a search for a missing person in the terrain above Hrebienok Mountain Hostel.
- Mountain rescuers and search-and-rescue dog handlers – get a close look at their work and the methods used when searching in challenging mountain terrain.
- First aid and CPR – a practical demonstration of basic life-saving procedures.
- Injured-person transport demonstration – a demonstration of transport using KONG rescue stretchers.
- Evening presentation – an insight into rescue operations and the everyday reality of mountain rescuers.
- Rescue operations beyond Slovakia – the presentation will also feature experiences and stories from rescue missions in Venezuela.
- Meet the professionals – an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and discover the world of mountain rescue.
The program also includes a lecture and discussion with canine handlers about mountain rescue operations, complemented by screenings of short authentic videos from real rescue missions.
